A professional violinist, Natasha Turovsky discovered visual arts almost twenty years ago. She decided to pursue professionally her passion by enrolling in the Fine Arts program at Concordia University in Montreal in 1992, where she specialized in painting and printmaking.
Even with her busy schedule as a musician, she is an extremely prolific artist. She has produced hundreds of paintings and monotypes, along with several opera sets and series of paintings made after such musical cycles as Song of the Earth by Mahler and Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky.
Natasha’s first solo exhibition was in Montreal in 1995. To date, she has had more than forty solo and group exhibitions in Barcelona, Cleveland, Boston, New York, Hong-Kong, etc. Her works are in many private and corporate collections in the United States, Canada, England, Spain, France, Russia, China and Iran.
In 2006 , together with her father Yuli Turovsky and a digital artists Gael Hollard and Marie-Josee Auclair, Natasha made a short film Pictures at an Exhibition (Choreographed paintings), an animation based on the paintings she made to the Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition”. Picture at an Exhibition has already been performed with I MUSICI de Montré al on tour in the United States, Spain, Brazil, Canada and Colombia.
This short animated movie has been selected for several international film festivals such as Syracuse International Film and Cannes Short Film Corner and in November 2007 Natasha received an “excellence in cinema award” from the prestigious New York Independent film and video festival.
In February, 2008, Natasha presented a highly successful exhibition called “Sunday which begins on Wednesday” at the head offices of the Cirque du Soleil in Montréal..
In the summer of 2011, Natasha left the musical stage to concentrate on her art.
